I get asked regularly how to remove large shrubs or bigger problem plants. The normal response is with a chainsaw or 4X4. Here's another alternative that looks like it would work well. Particularly if you don't have a 4 x 4 SUV handy.

Hi- let me tell you I'm a full time garden writer - living on an island and building a brand new garden. This is a record of that garden building and exploring. I almost hesitate to tell you how long I've been in the nursery business (30 years give or take) but I've grown a lot of plants (killed a lot too) and there's just too many plants and too little time.

Thanks for this link! I was just pondering how to pull out a forsythia bush, and I really didn't relish the thought of chains and my 4x4 truck! This tool is kinda pricey, but I bet I could convince some local garden buddies to pitch in so we could all share and circulate it as needed.
